The problem

Geospatial applications have more moving parts than a typical web app: a Django application with GIS extensions, a GeoServer instance for map services, and a PostgreSQL database with the PostGIS extension, all of which have to be secured and kept talking to each other in production.

What I did

  • Deployed two GeoDjango + GeoServer applications to production, running as concurrent projects.
  • Set up PostgreSQL with PostGIS for spatial data.
  • Configured SSL for the applications and map services.
  • For the same client, built the deployment for the SpaTools licensing app: server setup, SSL, database migration and automated monitoring scripts, delivered within a tight deadline.

Result

Both geospatial applications and the licensing app went to production, and the client came back for repeat work.

“Hired Irfan twice for two separate GeoDjango projects, both delivered at high quality. Our app goes from concept to production with his help.”
